What we find most in our browser's history are the latest fashion trends, facebook, multiply, ebay, youtube etc... But in my case? uh-uh. I have a portion there where I can take a look at agricultural technology's revolution. Ever since I came back to school, I've come to respect the importance of awareness of your respected college. Being a DevComm student does not only tell you to be the best journ major or educomm major, it also teaches us how to be responsible in taking part of uplifting our college.
Aggies! Blue blood, green heart! right in the middle of the city. So who says that Aggies can't be techies like the others? For one, in this age of fast paced technology evolution, one can't say that agricultural development is left behind. In fact, as of today, it's one of the leading mechanism in technology evolution. Don't you know that farmers nowadays use satellite signals to pinpoint the farmer's location in a field? It's called Precision Farming, it's a new technological development in Agriculture.
This process uses television satellite dishes to receive a signal from the satellite in space and transform it into the television show you watch. Farmers use an antenna to receive a signal from a satellite in space. The antenna is connected to a computer on the farmer's combine. The computer uses satellite signal to tell the farmer exactly where the combine is in the field. Precision farming allows the farmer to farm more efficiently and precisely. For us to understand further this technology, it's a Global Positioning System or GPS which is widely used today.

n farming may not know exactly how many seeds or how many chemicals to use in each section of their fields while farmers who use precision farming techniques can calculate just the right amount of seed or chemicals to use. These farmers save money. And since, we have a new government who promised to take part in developing our agricultural resources I think that this is the best form of technology we can adopt here in the Philippines. Considering of our geographical structure, precision farming will help the farmers identify which part of their land should they plant more. The convenience and the precision it would give them will save them more time and money in investing crops especially if they are limited in budget. Government should sponsor each agricultural area a system such as this one to assist farmers. One advantage is that this would encourage young people to pursue farming as their career, we have a shortage on farmers here in our country since there isn't enough in farming that would keep younger people interested. With this new technology, I'm sure farming will never be the same again in the Philippines.

I hope our government will see this good technology that could really do a lot of help to our farmers. Some say that nowadays, farmers are not anymore important in our society. Definitely, NOT TRUE. Why do we have our rice, corn and other crops if we don't have farmers? These people are still one of the most important people in our country. And as fortunate people who live in cities, we have the capability to help them in having more products by giving them the right technology to use. And I think, this Precision Farming is definitely a very good example. I hope this awakens our goverment.
